    Data Analyst



    Data Analysts work intensely with the data work stream through all phases of an engagement, including conceptual design, detailed design, implementation, testing and production deployment. Analysts work with stakeholders to prioritize business and information needs, design and implement data collection systems, identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets, and monitor quality control plans.  The ideal candidate for this position is able to do complete life cycle data generation and outline critical information in a clear and actionable format for their stakeholders.  In the dynamic role you will work with multiple departments throughout the company, such as finance, accounting, underwriting, and compliance, as well as with external partners, such as managing general agencies, statistical bureaus, and various state departments of insurance.



    • Conducting full lifecycle analysis to include requirements, activities and design.
    • Defining, assembling and presenting all technical data deliverables and work products.
    • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
    • Perform data cleaning, manipulation and exploratory analyses.
    • Communicate data insights to and facilitate decision-making with internal stakeholders. Additionally, the data analysts collaborate with data engineers to identify and correct data issues.


    Minimum Requirements 

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Actuarial
    • 3+ years business experience as a data analyst
    • Thorough understanding of business processes and systems knowledge
    • Proven ability to develop data models using statistical and mathematical methods
    • Proven aptitude for learning and using data analysis reporting tools
    • Intermediate skills in Excel with knowledge of spreadsheet functionality including v-look-up, pivot tables, charts, graphing and macros
    • Intermediate computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint, and database experience including the ability to create PowerPoint graphs, tables and information reports in slide format
    • Solid communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Proven ability to interpret complex data, analyze results using statistical techniques, and present actionable insights
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
    • Adept at queries, report writing, analyzing complex data, identifying trends and insights, and presenting findings


    Preferred Skills 

    • Intermediate SQL programming skills
    • Insurance knowledge and experience
    • Python, R and VBA (Optional)
    • Prior experience in Accounting and/or Finance
