Overview

The AVP Product Development will be responsible identifying new Property & Casualty insurance products to be sold through AmTrust’s existing and new client bases. The process will involve performing market research and competitive analysis to support the product development efforts, as well as determining the specific customer acquisition channels and sub-channels to be used in marketing the new products.  This position will also be responsible for ongoing analysis of AmTrust’s existing product portfolio, and for making and implementing recommendations to improve efficiency in these areas.

Responsibilities

  • Originate new products in concert with customer needs and business model, including working with Underwriting, Sales and in some cases, MGA’s
  • Support and advance corporate development initiatives with mergers and acquisitions and provide consultative underwriting expertise where needed
  • Oversee key product development projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis
  • Develop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring & evaluating projects including reporting on research findings, regular progress reports, and staff conferences intended to build consensus
  • Complete cost benefit analysis when applicable
  • Act as a technical advisor to the business units or clients regarding insurance products and coverages
  • Recommend and develop underwriting standards that keep pace with a rapidly expanding organization and coordinate their implementation
  • Monitor and review industry, bureau and regulatory changes related to the impact on AmTrust’s current product offerings

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of product management experience in property & casualty insurance industry
  • 2+ years experience leading product management projects and initiatives
  • Experience must include the design and development of quantitative and qualitative research, in-market analytics and tracking for new product launches, service propositions, channel and segment specific program testing
  • Broad background with exposure to a variety of issues, including insurance coverage issues, end-user agreements, rate development, drafting insurance policy language and general regulatory matters
  • Bachelor’s Degree or other relevant combination of education and industry experience
  • Proficient in analytics and strategic planning, consensus building and negotiating skills; ability to organize data and documents with close attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple and diverse workload
  • Ability to travel as required
