Overview

AmTrust Financial has an immediate need for a Director of Internal Audit.  This position can be located in either Bedford, TX, Alpharetta, GA, or Chicago, IL.  The Director of Internal Audit will supervise and assist three or more Claims Auditors who are responsible for conducting on-site audits and desk audits of third party administrators that sell contracts that AmTrust Financial underwrites. The ideal candidate will possess financial and accounting experience that will enable them to perform financial related tasks for the activity. The auditing objective is to review sales and claims files to determine if agreed to sales and claims handling practices are being followed.  Previous Supervisory experience is required. This position will report to the SVP of Underwriting

Responsibilities

 

Position Responsibilities

 

  • Assists in the investigation, evaluation, negotiation and resolution of insurance claims
  • Evaluates high dollar claims for accuracy and completeness
  • Obtains facts to evaluate contract coverage
  • Provides timely contact with all required parties
  • Assures cost-effective resolution
  • Coordinates potential fraud investigations
  • Maintains quality claim files in accordance with appropriate best practices and claim handling file expectations 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Establishes and executes controls to assure that the quality of the work meets or exceeds standards.
  • Reviews and analyzes processes, procedures and workflows to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
  • May recruit, hire and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers and disciplinary action.
  • Manages personnel administration including employee evaluations and salary administration.
  • Participate in the specialized training and handling of complex claim matters and projects requiring advanced claim knowledge and experience.
  • Manages the development and training of subordinates, including monitoring and relaying information to the staff regarding changes in coverage and laws.

Qualifications

  • 2 + years of supervisory experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Auditing experience
  • Prefer automotive and insurance experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and co-workers
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a fast paced, team environment
  • Ability to work independently and use intuitive decision making
  • Offer friendly, considerate, and efficient claims service at the same time effectively communicating next steps
  • Recent working experience and confidence using Microsoft Office
  • Expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to handle urgent and sometimes difficult calls
