Overview

 

We are a professional services firm that provides financial reporting, regulatory compliance, insurance management and functional consulting to our insurance industry client base. We work in partnership with our clients to provide them with insurance and accounting professionals who provide day to day underwriting and operational services, assisting in the management and operations of their captive insurance companies.

 

 

This is a staff position involved in the review and appraisal of applications for commercial automobile liability insurance for insureds in the trucking industry. Uses knowledge and independent judgment to determine eligibility of risks when compared to guidelines of programs available. Responds to questions from agents and insureds received via email, telephone, fax and mail.

 


Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

 

  • Reviews applications for insurance coverage, reports from loss control consultants and other information to determine if application is acceptable for the program(s) available.
  • Evaluate the experience of a risk against the class of business under review
  • Evaluate the loss potential due to catastrophe, severity, and/or frequency
  • May rate policies or check previously rated policies for proper rating
  • Utilizes knowledge of automated systems to develop information for new or renewal policies
  • Prepares quotations for agents and answers questions from agents, policyholders, or prospects
  • Assists agents with comments or questions about applications and the likelihood of acceptance by the program(s)
  • Reviews requests for cancellation, endorsements, etc.
  • Reviews policies for renewal consideration
  • Request additional documentation necessary for the processing of an application, endorsement, or cancellation
  • Entry of application and exposure information in program software
  • Issuance of policy documentation in line with quoted and bound terms

Qualifications

  • Two or more years of commercial property & casualty underwriting experience
  • Focus on commercial auto liability for the trucking industry preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Note: Relevant, progressively responsible work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.)
  • Professional designations (CPCU, AU, AINS) an advantage
  • Thorough knowledge of P&C insurance forms and rating rules
  • PC literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Flexibility to work on special projects and meet the demands of clients, including occasional travel
