Overview

The Underwriting Support Technician (UST) handles all aspects of processing of renewal preparation and issuance in accordance with a letter of authority and company guidelines.  The technician may also provide underwriting support in areas of processing quotes and new business as needed.  The technician may have frequent contact with field office staff and agents to compile information and communicate the status of various accounts.

 

Responsibilities

 

 

• Prepares renewal policies for underwriter review and pricing prior to quote

• Completes processing of renewals within letter of authority and premium guidelines

• May process and prepare endorsements, non renewals, cancellations and reinstatements to enforce policies

• May support underwriting in the entry and processing of quotes and new business transactions

• May present information and training to agents, by telephone or in person relating to company products and system usage

• May present information and training to other employees by telephone or in person relating to company products and system usage

• Communicate in writing and by telephone with agents and field office staff to gather information for risk development

• Follow up to confirm all activity is complete and policies are issued or renewed in accordance with company guidelines or by requested dates

• Act as back-up to underwriters by providing data entry, request reports or other information

• Handle ICC Motor Carrier Filings and performs DMV Error Research

• New Business or Renewal MAC Set Ups

• Coordinate and manage requests for Auto ID Cards

• Promote goodwill for the company with each and every agent and customer contact both internal and external

Qualifications

Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred

  • 3+ years in an administrative or project coordination role
  • High level of professional conduct
  • Ability to interact with and assist executive management
  • Ability to work in a confidential nature
  • Microsoft Office Suite Skills, including Excel proficiency
  • General analytical, organizational, and coordination skills
