Overview

The Director, Pricing & Analysis is responsible for the evaluation, financial analysis, pricing, and ongoing performance management of automotive warranty and insurance programs. This role leads the development of pricing strategies, profitability models, and portfolio analytics to support sustainable growth and informed business decision-making. Applying established underwriting guidelines, procedures, and standards, the Director evaluates risk, develops profitable program structures, and provides data-driven recommendations that balance client objectives with company profitability targets.

 

Working closely with sales, clients, actuarial, legal, operations, and product teams, the Director develops pricing solutions, analyzes program performance, and monitors key business metrics to ensure programs remain competitively priced and financially successful.

Responsibilities

  • Develop pricing strategies, financial models, and program structures for new and existing clients offering warranty, service contract, and insurance products.
  • Analyze historical claims experience, loss trends, exposure data, and market conditions to develop pricing recommendations that support profitability and growth objectives.
  • Build, maintain, and enhance pricing models, forecasting tools, and profitability analyses used to evaluate program performance and support business decision-making.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of assigned programs to assess pricing adequacy, underwriting performance, loss ratios, and overall profitability, recommending corrective actions when necessary.
  • Evaluate new business opportunities by performing financial and risk analyses, identifying key pricing assumptions, and developing program-specific pricing strategies.
  • Collaborate with Company Sales Representatives and prospective or existing clients to understand program objectives, product offerings, distribution channels, and risk characteristics necessary for accurate pricing and program design.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, claims trends, reserve adequacy, loss development, and other key performance indicators to identify emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Maintain supporting documentation related to pricing methodologies, rate indications, profitability analyses, quotations, underwriting rationale, and approved program rates in accordance with company standards.
  • Review insurance policy forms, warranty agreements, and contractual provisions to ensure pricing assumptions, coverage terms, and program structures are properly aligned.
  • Partner closely with actuarial teams by providing relevant experience data, pricing assumptions, and analytical support for complex rating exercises and actuarial reviews.
  • Prepare and present pricing analyses, profitability reviews, forecasting results, and strategic recommendations to senior management, clients, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Vehicle Service Contracts (VSCs), GAP, ancillary products, extended warranties, and other automotive F&I products.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitive pricing practices, regulatory developments, and emerging risks to support product innovation and maintain market competitiveness.
  • Support the development of reporting and business intelligence capabilities to improve pricing accuracy, portfolio visibility, and management decision-making.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Actuarial Science, Finance, Insurance, Risk Management, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the warranty industry.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the insurance industry.
  • Strong knowledge of extended warranties, service contracts, automotive F&I products, Vehicle Service Contracts (VSCs), GAP, and ancillary products.
  • Strong understanding of pricing methodologies, profitability analysis, forecasting, and financial modeling.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including developing and maintaining complex pricing models and analytical tools.
  • Experience analyzing claims performance, loss ratios, reserve adequacy, and portfolio profitability.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to interpret large data sets and translate findings into actionable pricing and business recommendations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, producers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to evaluate complex risks and make sound underwriting and pricing recommendations.

Preferred

  • Experience developing pricing models for warranty, service contract, insurance, or automotive F&I products.
  • Knowledge of SAS, Power BI, SQL, Python, or other analytical and business intelligence tools.
  • Experience working closely with actuarial, legal, product development, and operational teams.
  • Knowledge of actuarial methodologies, loss trend analysis, forecasting techniques, and predictive modeling.
  • Professional insurance designations such as CPCU, ARM, or similar credentials.
