The successful candidate will be a part of a busy and highly effective legal team based primarily in New York that provides legal support to the full range of businesses within AmTrust. The role reports to VP, Senior Corporate Counsel and would have day-to-day responsibility for managing their own tasks and responsibilities. This position requires in-office attendance four (4) days per week.
Responsibilities will include assisting with real estate matters ranging from acquisition and divestitures to leases; joint ventures; investment matters including preparing transaction forms (e.g., purchase agreements, letters of intent, disclosure schedules, diligence checklists, subscription documents, etc.); M&A matters including compiling disclosure schedules and assisting with regulatory filings; and administrative responsibilities. The successful candidate must maintain a solid understanding of AmTrust’s mission, vision, and values and uphold the standards of the AmTrust organization.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist with the preparation of legal documents and correspondence
· Draft and revise all forms of transaction/deal documents
· Lien searches, UCC filings, other transactional filings
· Administrative support including:
o Document execution and production support
o Update and maintain matter management system (Onit)
o Track attorney workflows
· Review and revise basic NDAs and similar agreements
· Build and manage library of template documents
· Assist with the preparation of reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
· General support of projects for the Legal department, as needed
Required Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required:
· Expertise in Microsoft Office Programs
· Comfortable learning and utilizing legal technology tools and software, including AI-based tool
· 3-5 years of experience as a transactional paralegal
· Self-motivated team player with the proven ability to work independently and handle numerous competing demands in a high-volume, fast-paced working environment, frequently under urgent deadlines
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Genuine interest in transactions, insurance and finance
· Strong organizational skills
· Ability to handle confidential information sensitively and discreetly
· Flexibility with overtime
Preferred Qualifications:
· Previous law firm experience and/or in-house legal department experience
· Flexibility with overtime
· 5+ years of experience as a transactional paralegal
