This position will be worked hybrid in our Southington, CT office - 3 days on site, 2 days remote.
The Accountant l is a key team member completing critical tasks related to insurance transaction processing, financial and management reporting, reconciliations, account analysis, as well as providing process enhancements. The position will support the Finance team with demands related to AmTrust Specialty Programs Unit, maintaining a solid understanding of AmTrust’s mission, vision, and values. 1. Perform routine activities including analyzing and reconciling data, and other month-end close activities supporting the accounts receivable team
2. Ensure the accurate and timely recording of Insurance transactions including but not limited to gross premiums and commissions
3. Research and resolve payment or commissions discrepancies with agents and service partners.
4. Assist in preparation of month-end reports related to financial and management reporting, including but not limited to flux analysis with explanations
5. Act as liaison between internal and external teams by providing guidance, transaction support, handling inquiries, resolving day-to-day issues and communicating policies, procedures, and guidelines
6. Continually evaluate the processes and systems utilized and prepare well researched recommendations for enhancements and process improvements
7. Keeps current with market trends and demands.
8. Provide excellent customer service to clients/agents
9. Follows established corporate and department policies and procedures.
10. Acts as support for other production functions.
11. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Required:
• Bachelor Degree in Business with a major in accounting, or equivalent
• 2-4 years of experience in accounting, preferably insurance
• Intermediate Excel (pivot, vlookup, etc.), and Microsoft Office skills
• Ability to multi-task while working independently in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines
• Ability to identify problems and propose viable solutions
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
• Must be flexible and have demonstrated skills to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
• Strong initiative, problem solving, and interpersonal skills, plus an orientation toward continuous improvement
• Strong appreciation for the importance of ensuring accuracy in all levels of financial reporting
