Overview

AmTrust Financial Services, a fast-growing commercial insurance company, has need for VP of Professional and Cyber Liability Claim. The successful candidate will lead a large team handling all aspects of organizational leadership and demonstrate a thorough understanding of the business and best in class claims handling. Effective oral and written communication skills, the ability to prioritize and execute based on critical objectives and the ability to coach and develop direct reports are skills that are critical to success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Owns the development and performance of professional and cyber liability claim teams, ensuring the quality, accuracy, and timely resolution of first and third party claims of high complexity and/or severity. Continuously develops talent by creating opportunities for direct reports and team to grow and strengthen new skills.
  • Monitors the performance of their team, analyzing any problematic trends to identify root cause problems. Escalates issues or may recommend solutions to operational leadership. Advocates a culture committed to identifying process efficiencies to continuously improve how work is completed.
  • Demonstrates a passion and vision towards a highly effective and engaged employee culture. Selects top talent, delivers continuous coaching, recognizes employees to reinforce behaviors that ensure service excellence, and holds other accountable for the development of their teams.
  • Advocates customer and business partner service excellence by building an understanding of the customer and partner experience that meets and exceeds stakeholders’ expectations.
  • Identifying changes in claim best practices and workflows to drive high quality outcomes and developing training solutions to embed and sustain those practices in the organization.
  • Identifying changes in technology to support the execution of those practices and workflows, and working with IT counterparts in the design, build, and test of those changes.
  • Utilizes data and analytics to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborative with business partners internally and externally to ensure profitable growth
  • Develops coverage acumen and proactively ensures team manages litigation

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in executive level claims leadership roles within the insurance industry, with material experience in Professional Liability and/or Cyber liability claim management
  • Advanced coverage acumen including experience with duty to defend and reimbursement policies, primary and excess forms, and multiple product distribution models
  • Multi-jurisdictional expertise.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced degree, including Juris Doctor (J.D.
  • Directly manage and guide a team of Managers responsible for overseeing the handling of all aspects of claims.
  • Regularly participate in claims roundtable discussions focusing on claims issues surrounding coverage, liability and assessment of damages.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to present to senior leadership.
  • Leadership skills: ability to plan, organize, delegate, and develop direct reports.
  • Possesses emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
  • Able to create a teaching environment and drive group think
  • Creative thinker and solution oriented
  • Understands urgency and has proven track record of driving managed change
  • Embraces changes; invites feedback related to performance and deals constructively with criticism.

The expected salary range for this role is $150,200-$225,000/year.
