This position will be based hybrid (3 days on-site, 2 days remote) in our Jersey City, NJ office.
AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. (the “Company”) is a multi-national property and casualty insurance holding company that is looking for an Accountant I to join the Financial Reporting Team in Jersey City, NJ. In this position, you will be responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of internal and external financial reports and related support in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and in compliance with internal controls and Company policies.
The salary range for this role is $59,000 - $70,000. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Jersey City, NJ. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics. This range may be modified in the future.
· Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, and related footnote disclosures
· Lead coordination with cross functional teams such as Legal, Treasury, FP&A, Tax, and Investment Accounting, to obtain supporting documentation for financial statements and footnotes
· Prepare and maintain complete and accurate workpapers
· Ensure ongoing compliance with internal controls and assist with the periodic update of risk control matrices and process narratives/ flow charts
· Perform quarterly trend analyses by financial statement line item or GL account; investigate and provide commentary on fluctuations for management
· Perform quarterly roll forwards for Goodwill and Intangible Assets
· Monitor status of external auditor requests and coordinate with finance teams to ensure timely delivery of support
· Work closely with Finance systems team on creation and maintenance of standard reports
· Assist with non-routine transactions and ad-hoc accounting projects upon request
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting
· 1 to 3 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting and/or audit
· Strong understanding of US GAAP accounting and financial reporting requirements
· Well-developed organizational and time management skills, consistently meets deadlines
· Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
· High attention to detail and accuracy, actively seeks to improve processes
· Curious and eager to learn
· Proficient with MS Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.)
