Overview

AmTrust is searching for an experienced and knowledgeable Underwriting Supervisor to manage and lead the Nonprofit Renewal Underwriting Team. This is a national position that will lead and train underwriters and underwriting assistants to ensure the integrity of underwriting activities and processes of the renewal book. The supervisor will also lead their team to meet or exceed retention and profitability goals.

Responsibilities

  • Direct team to achieve sales and profit objectives through underwriting rate and retention goals.
  • Guide team on risk acceptability in accordance with company guidelines and standards.
  • Provide leadership, support, and coaching to underwriters and underwriting assistants on the team.
  • Evenly distribute and balance the renewal book workload amongst the underwriting team.
  • Monitor underwriting decisions through regular audits and referrals and address issues appropriately through individual or group training.
  • Collaborate with Region Leadership on large accounts.
  • Weekly reporting to the Director of Underwriting on the status of accounts and daily findings
  • Lead routine NB huddles with UWs and create avenues of growth for members of the team.
  • Manage and lead a group of remote staff
  • Participate in management calls and special projects to contribute ideas for improvement of the company’s renewal business process.
  • Assess and be directly involved in the necessary build out of personnel on the underwriting team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 7-10+ years of leadership experience in commercial package insurance, preferably in the nonprofit space.
  • Expert knowledge of Commercial Package classifications and exposures.
  • Keen Analytical and risk assessment ability.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Ability to make sound contributions to tactical and strategic planning
  • Ability to train, coach and mentor individuals of various backgrounds within area of expertise
  • High energy self-starter, who is resilient and has an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and compete to win
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time nationally and to the Home Office as required
