Overview

Job Summary:
AmTrust is seeking an experienced and adaptable Workers' Compensation Claims Adjuster III to join our team in a float capacity. This unique role requires a seasoned professional who can step in on an interim basis to manage claims across various teams and regions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience handling workers' compensation claims and must hold a valid California Adjuster License. This position is responsible for the prompt and efficient review and disposition of insurance claims through effective research, evaluation, investigation, negotiation, and interaction with insureds or claimants. The adjuster will uphold the standards of AmTrust and the Claims organization while maintaining a solid understanding of our mission, vision, and values.

 

The salary range for this role is $33.64 an hour - $47.12 an hour. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics. This range may be modified in the future

 

Those within a 50 mile radius of an AmTrust office will be expected to abide by a hybrid schedule. 

 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate claims by making timely and appropriate contact with involved parties including insureds, claimants, witnesses, and producers.
  • Review and analyze coverage, escalating complex issues as needed and drafting coverage positions when required.
  • Set timely and accurate reserves based on facts, standards, and experience.
  • Develop and execute effective litigation plans in collaboration with internal or panel counsel.
  • Apply critical thinking and decision-making skills to assess and resolve claims efficiently.
  • Negotiate claims strategically to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Coordinate with internal Managed Care and Medical resources to ensure appropriate treatment plans and billing accuracy.
  • Obtain and review relevant documentation such as medical records, police reports, and photographs.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced adjusters; may serve as Acting Supervisor when needed.
  • Maintain clear, timely, and fact-based documentation in claim files.
  • Stay current with market trends and regulatory changes.
  • Perform other functionally related duties as assigned.

Float Role Expectations:

  • Serve in a flexible, interim capacity, managing claims across different teams and regions as needed.
  • Quickly adapt to new workflows, systems, and team dynamics.
  • Provide consistent, high-quality claims handling regardless of assignment duration.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of workers' compensation claims handling experience.
  • Valid California Adjuster License.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Strong investigative, evaluative, and negotiation skills.
  • Solid knowledge of insurance principles and practices.
  • Ability to travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Multijurisdictional claims experience.
  • Professional designations such as CPCU, AIC, or ARM.
