Responsibilities

  • Own underwriting and financial performance for multiple MGA / MGU portfolios, including loss ratio, rate adequacy, exposure management, and authority controls
  • Serve as the primary carrier underwriting point of contact for MGA partners
  • Partner closely with actuarial on pricing reviews, indications, loss emergence, and portfolio diagnostics
  • Establish and enforce underwriting guidelines, authority structures, audit findings, and remediation plans
  • Monitor portfolio trends (frequency/severity, mix shifts, leakage, guideline drift) and implement corrective action

  • Strong collaboration with actuarial teams (pricing, rate actions, performance analysis)
  • Comfort making and executing portfolio changes (rate, rules, capacity, authority)
  • Ability to interpret insurance rules and regulations and apply knowledge for the highest standard of compliance.
