Overview

AmTrust Financial Services, a fast growing commercial insurance company, has an immediate need for a Workers’ Compensation Agricultural Claims Supervisor for our Fresno, CA office. The successful candidate will supervise a team of Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjusters.  Their supervision will include coaching and counseling, monitoring work performance to assure compliance with company standards as well as California Labor Code rules and regulations, helping to refine the skills of the people in the unit, conducting performance evaluations, and instituting corrective action when appropriate. This position will also have personnel administration responsibilities for their team of adjusters. This position reports to the Division President.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions

  • Supervise a team of Workers’ Compensation Ag Claims Adjusters.
  • Oversees the handling of all aspects of the claims assigned to the unit including reserving, communication, documentation, litigation management, evaluation, negotiation and settlement.
  • Ensures all claims eligible or ineligible for payment conform to quality, production standards and specifications.
  • Ensures claim processing is consistent with applicable policies, procedures and department guidelines.
  • Maintain current status of supervisor reviews and claim oversight.
  • Manage complaints.
  • Identify and report trending that may negatively impact the clients and/or the company.
  • Collaborate with management team as necessary to facilitate team building and partnerships.
  • Provides file authority as appropriate to unit staff.
  • Completes regular quality audits of staff’s work, records results and counsels staff to bring work to or above standards.
  • Prepares regular periodic reports and monitors system reports to ensure adherence to corporate and regulatory standards.
  • Reviews and analyzes processes, procedures and workflows to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
  • May recruit, hire and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers and disciplinary action.
  • Manages personnel administration including employee evaluations and disciplinary action.
  • Participate in the specialized training and handling of complex claim matters and projects requiring advanced claim knowledge and experience.
  • Manages the development and training of subordinates, and continuing education, including monitoring and relaying information to the staff regarding changes in coverage and laws.
  • Completes special projects and other tasks as assigned by the Division President.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Requires a high school education with preferred college degree or a minimum 7 years equivalent Workers’ Compensation experience and skills.
  • Preferred Licenses and Certifications:  California SIP certification, WCCP and current on all continuing education required by the state.

Position Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of laws, principles of coverage, liability and insurance industry in general.
  • Analytical and human relations skills are critical.
  • Leadership skills; ability to plan, organize, delegate unit workflow.
  • Effective communication skills; ability to obtain information from others and deliver information to others orally and in written form.
  • Ability to carry out detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work with little supervision and direction.
  • Sound command of the English language.  Bilingual Spanish helpful but not required.
  • Ability to operate business technology.
  • Previous Workers’ Compensation experience preferred.

The salary range for this role is $95,000 to $115,000. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics. This range may be modified in the future.
