Overview

The Underwriter II administers the underwriting and servicing of renewal workers' compensation accounts for agents and producers assigned within the territory, in compliance with company underwriting, authority and pricing standards. Maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust’s mission, vision, and values. Upholds the standards of the AmTrust organization.

Responsibilities

  • Retain and service a profitable book of business through solid risk analysis, pricing and servicing.
  • Maintains compliance with state filings and adheres to corporate underwriting and pricing guidelines.
  • Operate within written authority grant and makes referrals to management as required.
  • Provide service to assigned brokers on billing, audits and policy changes.
  • Collaborate closely with territory team.  Keep peers and Territory Management informed of all issues and activity and competitive information.
  • Educate agents on underwriting appetite to retain profitable business within the assigned territory.
  • Limited travel in the assigned territory to meet with agents to further develop business relationships as needed. 
  • Occasionally participate in industry events as required such as but not limited to agency or association conventions.
  • Provide professional, timely and courteous communication and service to external clients and cross departmental staff to successfully resolve issues pertaining to policyholders and territory producers.
  • Provide pertinent information and guidance to operations staff required to process coverage requests in accordance with service guidelines.
  • Assist in gathering and sharing competitive information as well as keep current with market trends and demands.
  • Mod Report or CPP equivalent
  • Keeps current with market trends and demands.
  • Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of commercial lines property and casualty experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with and expert technical knowledge of workers compensation insurance coverage and risk selection, methods and pricing
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze data and make an informed, calculated risk retention decisions
  • Ability to make sound contributions to tactical and strategic planning
  • Strong analytical ability and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Able to multi task

The salary range for this role is $60,000 - $75,000. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in our New York offices. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics. This range may be modified in the future.
